1Wally 204
Danish oil doesn't have much of a shine to it, tru oil will buff to a nice shine. I Danish oil then poly coat. Tru oil is the best stuff though.
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
I rub them with cooking oil then poly coat it
Adrian Kenny 64
I used danish oil to bring out the grain, 4 coats with some sanding in between then got a spray, clear plastic stuff! Comes up a treat on mine, next is to try some inlay work on the handle
1Wally 204
I rub them with cooking oil then poly coat it Cooking oil won't dry out will it? How does the poly coat stick?
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
I just rub it in to fetch the grain out then buff. Then just poly spray
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
Don't like to leave in oils, makes them too shiny for me, think it looks tacky
Adrian Kenny 64
I know what ya mean by tacky, and it doesn't have a warmness to it, am playing about with a few ways
1Wally 204
Danish oil does not shine at all lads and gives good weatherproofing.
wuyang 513
No expert on catapults and have just received my first bottle of Tru oil which I am going to try. However I have oiled my kitchen bar with a couple of different oils both which are very good. The first was Liberon finishing oil, very good oil and you can achieve a very high gloss finish....more mirror like than varnishes I've seen....took a bit of practice but worth it if you like that sort of finish. This time I decided after reading many reviews to use Osmo TopOil 3058....clear. This is made in Germany, but can be bought all over. It's an oil wax combination, the clear one gives a more natural matt finish, but still has a nice sheen to it.....very nice. Both good oils. 1Wally 204
I think Liberon is mainly Tung oil, good stuff. Seen cattys finished with it.
