Cedric 132
Need some advice! I want a scope to use on a .22 Hornet. Because my eyesight is not what it used to be I need at least x18 mag. so I was thinking of getting a scope with more mag. and not using it on it's maximum ( which can be problematic) and with side focus. IR is not really necessary but good low light capabilities are a plus. I don't think I need anything more than a 50mm objective, maybe less. Mil dot reticule is not required but would be OK if the centre had plain cross hairs ( no centre dot as in the Hawke Endurance, it just about covers a rabbits head at 150 yards). Any suggestions without breaking the bank? Quote Link to post
celticrusader 78
At 18x mag you'll have to sacrifice lower end mag but maybe a ns game king 6-24x50 for around the £ mark, I have the 4-16 version and its great on my hmr but I havnt used this version but its apparently just as good as it from others replies. If you wanna really spend more then a 5-25 s&b?.lol Edited November 2, 2014 by celticrusader Quote Link to post

celticrusader 78
Plus at a 150 you should be aiming off about 3-4 inches maybe even 5 depending on what you zeroed at Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
I was thinking under £300 but would settle for second hand if in good nick. I've tried a Nikko Sterling Target Master 6-24x44 on it and the mag is fine (if a bit restricted in field of view terms on x18) but i can't seem to get on with it very well. I find it difficult to achieve correct eye relief and position, it's also second hand and I'm not convinced that the adjustments are working spot on, lost confidence in it. Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
Celtic - with the load I'm using, zeroed at 100 yards I get less than 2" drop at 150. Quote Link to post
celticrusader 78
Actually Cedric your probably right on the 2 inch drop....never been to good at judging distance myself and what looks like more on the scope can easily be mistaken at range, but then I'm still thinking of hmr not hornet. Truth is how to tell what's in good nick for 2nd hand on the internet, I'd spend a little more again and go for Nikon or meopta or similar...that said I have a hawke panorama (wide field of view) which might be what your after..eBay £ 2nd hand and rrp is about £160 ish normally. Their glass is supposed to be fantastic and the scope great for dialling in Quote Link to post
