Quicker than shit through a goose tho. Bring them in twice a day for a couple of hour so me and the kids can handle them. Can't wait to get them working, all really different temperaments which I like. A friend suggested cooking the meat before feeding them so when they hunt they don't associate raw meat with food, leading to less digging when on the hunt. Makes sense and he certainly does alright, the few times I've been out with him we've yet to dig. Not wanting to create a what is better .177 or . 22 type debate just after opinions of seasoned pros. northern lad 2,292 Posted October 20, 2014 Report Share Posted October 20, 2014 The fact you haven't had a dig is nowt to do with how the ferts are fed,some of mine are flesh fed,some only eat dry,both get dug to regularly Ferrets digest food quickly ...as long as the faeces isn't liquid don't worry Some days the rabbits all bolt,other days non will....if he never has to dig Id be wondering how good his ferrets are,they may be killing and moving on(in which case without digging he is leaving dead rabbits in the ground) or they could could be walking when they put one in a stop end...not crabbing your mates ferrets,just offering my opinion ATB Dave 1 Quote Link to post

pie-eater 377 Posted October 21, 2014 Report Share Posted October 21, 2014 I fed my ferrets dry years ago then switched to raw the difference was amazing they had more energy better coats and looked healthier all round. A good ferret will stay with a rabbit in a stop or stay with a kill for a short while. Lay ups I cant see happening unless the ferret is half starved. 2 Quote Link to post
