Custom Rattys

Recommended Posts

I have just bought my young lad a dog of a ratcatcher, it's not in the best of fettle and was held together with wood screws

It's all there, we'll all the important stuff and when I stripped it the insides seem to be in good fettle.

It's going to receive a good spit and polish and if he gets on with it , I will convert it to run on an air cylinder.

I'm doing away with the plastic stock and will make a shorter one from stainless rod and a nice bit of timber. I have all the screws ready to replace in stainless and will be getting a new and longer cocking bolt turned next week.

Any of you lads who have fettled these have any hints, tips or recommendations before I set too and rebuild it?

He's only 6 so it's only going to be a plinker.

Cheers.

Thanks lads, I will keep you updated.

As it happens I unknowingly knew a ratty expert and I've had a good kick in the right direction after a phone call.

That said I'm now £85 lighter on upgrades. It could become addictive.

Fettled the ratty today but just decided to do the basics as I don't know how he's going to get on with it.

Sorted the metalwork, replaced the plastic breech with a full steel kit. Upgraded the transfer port. Cleaned and polished the internals ( hammer and trigger sear ). Changed the trigger spring and replaced all but the stock screws for stainless. Popped a new shiny tube cap on. Scope and silencer.

It's not too bad over the chrono.

Just hope it fits.
