Schooling Day at Dumbo Park

 

Dumbo Park with its state of the art facilities sits conveniently on the outskirts of Lisburn, hosts a 350 seat grandstand restaurant, and a top class race track. This was the venue yesterday Sunday for a schooling day at this magnificent race track. From mid day onwards cars and trailers with dogs in tow were arriving, all with one thing in mind, to get the chance to run there prized canine friends around this magnificent racing track.

 

The sun shone all day and the atmosphere was electric. Very soon the traps were lowered, the schooling started, and the first set of dogs came charging around the circuit. Some great racing dogs there, and with continued schooling like yesterday, 2015 will be even bigger and better competition than 2014. There was a great one to one tuition from pups to adult dogs. The nice thing about yesterdays schooling was you got the choice of running out of traps or slipping your dog.

 

I am sure the cheers and encouragement been shouted out around the track could be heard far and near, with each of their charges following their dog around the track, to make sure they would get home safe and first. O what excitement and enjoyment this day generated.

All too soon the day was over, and we all headed over to the club house for a lovely cup of tea and biscuits, prepared by Kate Boyd.

 

May I take this opportunity to thank Davy Boyd, his wife Kate and Tom Barry for a great day out yesterday at Drumbo Park enjoying the sport we love. Kate you are a gem and you make a great cup of tea. Davy, I know without you none of this would be possible, so many thanks for your kindness and hospitality, and look forward to more of the same shortly again.

great write up Apple you sing our praises too much you should be the one praised.

All there had a good time some very fast pups and dogs on show the international whippet derby entrants in the spring will have to be on top form.

No more race days everyone can get back to hunting just now as the weather has started to turn colder see you all soon, good hunting.
