valerie they are your dogs and you have a right not to show them if you chose not to but i personally think its sad that you would not enter your dogs because as you think the judge is not good enough to judge them

judges have a hard enough job with out people making it harder for them

Milliken,

I agree - judging can be a thankless task and I admire people who do it. I judge occasionally at IKC Ch shows and I would be disappointed if people wouldn't show under me as I have always judged the dogs and not the person holding the lead. A lady who was not my biggest admirer broke down when I gave her dog BIS because she thought I wouldn't entertain it. Any person that Kieran or I would ask to judge we feel 1. Knows his or her dogs and 2. Is scrupulously honest in their approach.

I am confident that the judges we have invited will do their job professionally and effectively and without bias.

Kieran has made the decision that three dogs will cost £20 and for that one gets a number of tickets to the event (which has a list price of a family ticket of £30) as well as the chance to win £200 and a number of other prizes. Not a bad deal for anyone!

Sorry its Davy Best here using Valerie's FB page, being good enough dos'ent come into it, there are lots of reasons, having had a young dog nearly ruined by rough handling is one of them. And as I said there are very few people I would'nt show under but I have'nt got £30 to throw away either, if I go to a show with no pre-paid entry I can do without entering them if I want to, if I enter a KC show you know who the judge is in advance.

Kieran and I have selected Rose Mc Coy to judge the whippets. I remember watching Rose judge at Ballywalter and was very impressed with how she went over the dogs giving every dog 'the once over' in a calm, gentle and very efficient and professional fashion.

I trust whippet owners will give her a great entry.

Albert / Kieran my understanding of the 'Puppy Champion Qualifiers' is that it is only pups that have won 'Overall Champion Pup' at each show that qualify, not the winning 3 pups ie : lurcher pup / whippet pup and terrier pup, from each of the shows. Can you please Clarify whether this is correct as some people I have spoken to seem a little unsure?

Tulleyed,

No open show on the day. Just straight into the championships with qualified dogs.

The reason is that the estate had let most of the farmland and the field that would be ideal for T&L racing and show needs to be available for overflow car parking.

That's why we decided that the only real way to have a good presence of T&L & W was to have a pre qualified championship. And of course for qualifiers admission is free with your entry.

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE COUNTRY SPORTS  ARENA
As we approach the end to 2025, I would like to reach out and personally thank  all my friends in Country Sports for all  the hard work you  put into  organising our dog show and race days in 2025 for all to enjoy. These were all fantastic events and truly served as a wonderful window for our Country Sports fraternity.
Days like these at our dog shows in the summer are so important for our community, and your details and dedication to the cause has really shone through. So many charities have benefited over the years and so many new friends made at these get togethers  by like minded people. This was very evident in July this year when the Burren Working Dog Club gave £17,OOO to a charity. What an achievement.

I know there will be some very sad homes  this year,  with places missing at the  dinner table  in  our Country Sports  community. Can I please offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those people , and  hopefully with Gods help you will get through to brighter days ahead.

Many thanks to the McGrath Racing Club Carlow, for a great day out at the 5 Nations and who has travelled north and south of the border to run our racing so efficiently and helped me out on many occasions..  A special word of thanks to Tally Ho ( Peter Morgan ) for keeping the Country Sports window open in the dark days of winter by organising your virtual competitions and giving away so many generous prizes in return. This is so greatly appreciated .

And Finally, to my mentors and long term friends  Mr 5 Nations himself, yes The King of the Castle Albertj Titterington and his lovely wife Irene. Albert it is great to see you getting back to health again, and we look forward to seeing you back on the scene in 2026.

Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity  to  wish you all North and South of the border and further afield a very Happy Christmas and  Prosperous  New Year.

To we meet again in 2026 God Bless

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
