Rez 4,961
Does the AA TX200HC in left hand have the bear trap on the left hand side, or is the action the same as the standard HC with just a lefty stock? And as an edit... What's peoples thoughts re the rekord unit vs the air arms unit? Edited August 25, 2014 by Rez Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
*think* the loading port is on the left but the anti bear trap is on the right. Not a big issue just might slightly slow down reload time until you get used to it. Why they can't, or just simply won't, do a left hand prosport is still beyond me.. Apparently 1/3 shooters shoot left handed... Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,589
Heyo Rez. I have a left Hand TX200HC Mk.III but no Pic to show you. But I can describe it quite clearly as it is for you. There is a bear trap the same exactly as with the right hand version. The Bear-Trap release lever-button is on the right of the cylinder. But the loading port is now on the left of this rifle, as opposed to the usual right; and so, those notches on the silver sliding breach cover you normally see on a right hand version, are now hidden beneath the blued outer-face on the right of the cylinder tube. So the bear-Trap remains as a right hand unit. That's the only really noticeable difference here, apart from the stock of course. You may find as you cock the rifle with your left hand on the pistol grip and the underlever with your right. But you have to swap hands over to release the Bear Trap button, thus, to return the underlever after loading the pellet, which is an undesirable flaw for gun-handling-safety as, you need to let the underlever hang unchecked and free as you switch hands. But it's no great problem. I've never once known the underlever to snap back under the tension of the spring. And I once had an FAC version of this rifle too! In all other senses, it is exactly as all TX200's are currently made. Very nice rifles and seriously accurate! With regard to the left-hand Air Arms Prosport question. I reckon Air Arms could make a production left hand Prosport with no problems whatsoever. They have made a limited run of them before, so, it's not an impossible step. But, I seem to remember being told by an insider of the company, there may be a bloody-minded reason as to why a full-time left-handed production version isn't being made. The Company boss is a left-handed shooter himself. No doubt he will have sorted out one for himself! Hope this is of help. Simon 1 Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Nice one Pianoman. Just out of interest, would you part with your TX before your HW's? Im not wanting to buy, I just wondered if you had to get rid of one... Im a kinda weird one as Im not actually left handed, Im right handed but left eye dominant. With my 97, this works out really well, as I cock the underlever with my right hand, left hand holding the pistol grip, swop hands, insert the pellet with my left, and the safety is already on the left side of the rifle, which I flick in with my thumb. With the TX range, the breech isn't as accommodating as its not level on both sides [like the HW] and with a sunshade on my Varmint, it would almost be impossible to load a TX with my left hand if its a right handed action in a left handed stock. If that makes any sense. Hence my thoughts, is the action the other way too... I suppose I could load it with my right... Hmm. Bloody el. Something so simple to show is a nightmare explaining Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
I pull underlever down and cock it with my right. Then hold it with my left. Then load the pellet with my right and then swap hands again and close the lever with my right whilst holding the pistol grip with my left. With my 97. Proper effort like but i can still do it fairly quickly 1 Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Now we're getting into how we cock our rifles... Quote Link to post
