Can someone please explain to me how to avoid parralax error.

I have put a hawke varmint 6 x 24 x 44 sf on my 223, im going out tomorrow to zero. Will point of impact change if I alter parralax? And if I saw a fox say at 180 but the side parralax was set a 200 would I miss the target, thanks in advance but I am used to fix mag scopes

There are many explanations of Parallax on the web, most probably better than I can tell you, but put VERY simply, the best way to avoid parallax error is to make sure you look through the centre of the scope.

Don't get all tied up in this malarkey, it isn't as critical as some make out in the majority of situations!

Set it at 100 yards and leave it, you wont miss your fox at 200 if you are on target, most decent zoom parallax set scopes for centerfire stuff have the parallax set at 100 yards, like my Nikon prostaff for instance, I have no issues shooting at 300 yards and beyond
