Big Cat,pure Power

Recommended Posts

I remember once in Canada we had been town the local town for supplies and on the way back one of the lads was out for a run as we passed him the local lad who was with us pulled over and told the fella to get in ... The lad was enjoying his run and told the local no I've got another 2 miles yet ... To which the local replied ... You won't get another 200 meters look through the trees ... There was a massive mountain lion that had been shadowing him ... The local lad told us that attacks are very rare but in every case he knew of it was people on bikes or running that had been attacked ... He believed it was down to the cats natural instinct to hunt something that looks like its fleeing ..........

I used to chat with a gentleman from the States who used the handle Blackgriz.

He was a proper old school American hunter.

Anyways, he sent me a set of photos of a hunt he had in the desert.

He'd been tracking a lion for a couple of days with his few hounds (Walkers if memory serves me right) with him on his horse and a mule carrying his pack.

After a while it dawned on him that the lion was actually hunting him, with an eye on his mule.

The series of photos that Griz took were of the Lion approaching the mule (with a large pack on it's back) with the hounds around it baying hard (as they're bred to do).

As the Lion goes at the mule the mule runs at the Lion bringing it's front hooves down on the Lion and proceeds to beat the Lion into a bloody pulp and kills it.

The mule is there stomping on the now dead Lion while surrounded by baying hounds.

Blackgriz was first reaching for his rifle but when he seen the mule was OK he took out his camera and got all the action.

One of the most amazing things I've ever seen.

Maybe some of our American friends on here could tell us if Blackgriz, aka John R. is still on the net ?

He used to be on the Terrier Central forums.

These pics are worth seeing.

I don't think I have them anymore, it must have been 6 or 7 years ago.

Never heard about them on a documentary either.

Doesn't mean it didn't happen though.

I'd be surprised if John is not still on line so maybe someone could get hold of him ?
