Millet 4,497
Well.. deer god i have just stopped shaking.. .. my Goldie hen popped 5 little vessel's out several week's ago so i only thought it would only be fare to stick 2 under a goldie mule hen who was obviously sitting on dud egg's.. just to give her a chance to do what nature intended and raise some young.. .. anyway this plan has worked a treat on the bird's behalf but by Christ where they hard to ring... they are fat as butter and only 4 day's old.. and i can honestly say them ring's will be staying put.. .. The main reason i took two away from the native hen to put to a mule was because she laid 5 the same last year in her first clutch.. sadly 2 chick's faded away and she was left with only 3 healthy chick's.. This year she still has 3 healthy chick's that shit all over me while ringing with the added bonus of my goldie mule hen having 2 healthy chick's that also shit on me while ringing. so as the saying goes Shit for luck .. I have picture's on my mobile but i need a card reader to get them on here which is on the menu..
fireman 11,382
Well done and was well worth the punt with the mule rearing,i just hope mine does ok with the bully eggs she has when they hatch.I rang a greenie nest today or i should say 1 out of 3 greenie chicks and the other 2 were just to big and both look to be cinny's as well but at least there mutations so not such a pain as it could be.The buggers are growing quick this year and i'm going to have to check a day or so ealier than i normaly do as i'm yet to ring a loose one and i've got a couple more nests to do this week as well .My goldies are still just doing the feeding each other bit and i'm putting it down to the cock bird as the one i lost would have hed her nocked up by now and anything else female with a pulse in there with him
