Tiercel 6,986
Because when you load a needle the fuller it get the more twine per turn there is, all you can do is go by an average. Say you load a needle up with 200 turns then count the meshes that it makes, say for an example 500 then just divide the number of meshes by 200 the number of turns. 500 meshes divided by 200 turns gives you an average of 2.5 meshes per turn. Then however many meshes you are short for the net, say the net is 600 meshes so you are a 100 meshes short divide the number of meshes by 2.5 and that will tell you how many turns on the needle you are short. All the above figures are an example only. TC 1 Quote Link to post

sprockerjay 74
hi leeview how do you start your nets if not on a ring do you start on a cord or the metal triangle cheers aidy Quote Link to post
Leeview 792
on a loop with a tail of 18" of twine to whip it onto a ring, the end ring can be finished of the needle at the end. I weigh my needles and then weigh them again when they have enough twine to make a net loaded, I also weigh them to see how much twine I use on a row.Obviously once you have done it you dont need to do it again until you change twine. Its quite surprising how much a 500g spool varies +/- Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post
