Orange bloody urine?

Recommended Posts

Went out again today. Seven bunnies in 2 hours and a lovely day for it. Only thing is that when i peed them the urine was bright orange and when it dried it seemed bloody. ive never seen it that colour, any ideas anyone? They were in tip top conditon otherwise and seemed normal inside when paunched.

Has no one seen this then? i read up online and was wondering whether it could be Viral Hemoreagic (spelling) disease. Come on guys, with all the experienced people on here someone must know!

Never come across it myself, but, IMO it could be de-hydration before or during the chase. When I was running competitively, this is something I and a load of others suffered after a hard track session or the like

Metabolic exhaustion maybe. A dog not yet fit that works real hard can do damage to cells and as they die they are filtered out by the kidneys and can make the urine brown or orange- bloody looking. Make sure he's well hydrated and work him up in fitness, it can be real rough on the kidneys.

Thanks fezz, that confused me a little!

i just thought it was weird, been back since and the ones in a warren in the next field are normal. Might check out the first again this weekend. it might make sense if it was dehdration though, they were caught mid afternoon so might have been under all day. :hmm:
