Remington 700 Trigger Recall

Recommended Posts

Told last week,Remington are recalling there model 700 and model seven rifles due to safety issues with the xmp triggers so my mate gave me the website,to go on and would you know it my guns affected  the website is xmprecall.remington.com for anyone who wants to check Theirs, you enter your serial number and it tells you if your gun is affected, then you have to complete a form and they arrange postage and inspection in America, this really p****s me off as I don't have time for this, can I ask has anyone any other information on this,I really do not want to send it,and I am considering dropping another trigger into it and sending the trigger,or billing them for the new trigger, :rtfm: my question is whats peoples thoughts on that,or should I try and bill the importers, any suggestions on what would be a good trigger to use as a affordable effective alternative,I have been happy with my 223 rifle up to now,and it has done me a good job,

The recall website would more than seem to suggest they will contact you and arrange return shipping.

My 700 is also effected, and my understanding is in the UK it is return to your RFD, and he will send to Riflecraft who are apparently doing all the UK fixes!

They are contacting owners. A friend of mine had his .243 recalled last week.

So unless you bought 2nd hand privately, you should get a recall.

In the meantime he reports the range he shoots at has now banned all Remington 700's until modified on safety grounds.

Cheers I did Buy it second hand nearly new,was told today rifle craft have no arrival dates for new triggers, as it seems they are just going to swap them out,its not the sorting of it,its being without the rifle that bothers me,I am sorely tempted to buy a Timney trigger, and see if I can bill them,

All well and good banning as long as the gun falls part of the recall, older triggers don't, others may have had replacement triggers fitted as Darren is contemplating, mine is getting replaced too....with a Jewell.

All i can say is if you are thinking of replacing your trigger- do it sooner rather than later as there are potentially millions of these guns out there and there are only so many triggers available and most will probably end up on the US market first....dont miss out.

Riflecraft is handling the repairs in this country for Remington.I'm in the middle of buying a .17 fireball so I'll be putting a different trigger in it before taking out of the shop.

wise move, this will hit there sales I think,I have emailed rifle craft today and SMK yesterday all I can do is see what they say,
