Blackbriar 8,569
I was looking around for some compact but prolific fruit plants, to fit into my 'tiny-space allotment' project. In B&Q's seed selection , I came across the cucamelon (melothria scabra), and no, I'd never heard of it either ! Originally from South America, it's also known as the mouse melon and the Mexican sour gherkin. It produces grape-sized fruits that look like tiny watermelons, but taste of 'cucumber with a hint of lime' . Intrigued, I parted with £1.90, and took them home to research further. I've discovered that they can be easily grown outdoors, in a gro-bag or pot, are drought and pest resistant, require little care and produce loads of the tasty little fruits, that can be eaten raw or cooked, made into salsa-type sauces or even added to a gin and tonic ! I'll let you know how they get on (or don't!), but does anyone else grow anything unusual or 'exotic' ? (Stock picture copied from Google, sadly !)

Haven't come across that one, but I'll look out for it .
