i own a saluki x that will kill foxes on his own, has done a few times....i only run them if they come within reach tho..my last one did aswell....and im pretty sure my yong dog here would make short work of one too..

The invite for a night out is still open baz if you think your dog can take a night out in the back of my motor? we can see how many long ear rabbits it is capable of and see if it likes the pearly whites

Nice pictures shaheen what kind of dogs do you run?

Moi?...i dont own a running dog :icon_redface: ,but from what ive seen Saluki's float my boat the most and hope to purchase a pup when the time is right  .Ive seen other's that belonged to my late father's friends from the late 1980's (Pitt Bull/Greyhounds,Bull/Grey,Deerhound X's and Saluki longdogs) and out of them the salukis and Saluki X's impressed us most. But saying that i like the Irish saying "a good horse is never a bad colour",

Cheers

Shaheen

Good luck for when you decide to acquire a puppy whatever breed it is

Thank's  ...Saluki! ,just at this time the permission i have for hawking would be lost if i took a running dog on the fields,im in Lincolnshire :D

Dont start, im trying to have a decent debate here, but of course, you have to start cousing trouble. :hmm:

I reckon, your nowt but a fecking wanker, who just comes on here talking utter farking bollocks and trying to convince that Minshaw lurchers are the best in the world. :haha::thumbdown:

I have checked out your posts and all you post about mainly is about selling dogs, so its you, thats the puppy/dog pedler, you low life littel prick :feck:

Keep it shut, unless you have something important to say about hunting with dogs.....NOT BULLSHIT!!!!

Mr COX, below is some of your posts, you tosser. :feck:

Dam: Bedlington x Whippet/greyhound Sire: Greyhound. There is also bit of collie in the mix somewhere.

2 year old dog, rough coat, fawn colour with black muzzle, roughly 27/28 tts

He is excellent on rabbits .

£150

Genuine reason for sale , PM for details .

AND:

Two dogs out of the same litter turned out almost identical in size and shape 27/28 inchs in height aprox 70/ 80 pound in weight.Line bred minshaw dogs.

Dog number 1: started off on rabbits at about 8 months old caught around 100 rabbits at a year old. Took his 1st roe deer at 1 year old and a further 5 or 6 by 18 month old, gradually eased into hares at 1 year old killed about 20 hares by about 18 month old.

Dog number 2:started off a little later at 12 months old kills about 10 rabbits then kills mainly hares till about 18 months old.

Both dogs could kill a bag full of rabbits with ease and regulary did, both could kill hares good but dog number 2 excelled on hares and seemed to pick them up easier than dog number 1.

Both dogs could take a roe deer, but dog number 1 could take them with ease and dog number 2 always seemed to make harder work of them.

To sum it up dog number 1 excelled on deer and took them with ease but seemed to make a little harder work with hares.Dog number 2 excelled on hares but always seemed to make hard work of deer.

The only differance in the way these dogs ran where dog number 1 ran slightly to the side allowing his prey to see him, dog number 2 ran directly behind his prey so they couldnt see him.

The conclusion i came to was:

hares a harder to catch when they can see the dog from the side because they avoid the strike by turning a lot more, deer panic more when they see a dog from the side and make fatal mistakes.

hares are easier to catch when a dog runs directly behind them and carnt see the dog so unable to see the strike coming, deer dont panic as much when a dog runs directly behind them because they carnt see them and turn more making them a lot harder to catch. ................................................................................

Here is a quote out of the book Extreme Lurcher Work by J Darcy

"I have owned a good number of saluki/greyhounds and not one has ever taken a fox, I reckon these type of lurchers just dont like the pain often involved with catching fox's."

Butler how many saluki's would have to be tried to get the fox killer your talking about? You also say saluki based by that do you mean just saluki x greyhound or other breeds in the mix?

None of my dogs are straight saluki greyhound they have a touch of whippet in there and if i'm right the one i'm running just now has 1/64 bull blood but they are mostly saluki and greyhound. The mother to him as taken many foxes single handed and other things that bite back same as his father did as did his aunty's and uncles. The litter he was out of had 9 in it and 6 of them that i know of are taking foxes.

IVE JUST RETIRED MY SAL X GREY AT 10YRS. BEFORE THE BAN HE KILLED ENDLESS AMOUNT OF FOXES. WITH THE RIGHT TRAINING FROM PUP AND RIGHT ENTRY THEY WILL KILL FOXES. HE WAS ALSO GOOD AT TAKING PHEASANTS FROM COVER A WELL AS HARES,RABBITS, MICE, RATS ETC...

COULD NOT FAULT HIM. HIS SON WHICH I BRED IS JUST THE SAME. NOT ALL DOGS TAKE TO FOX, BUT ALL THE GENUINE SAL 1ST X'S IVE SEEN HAVE ALL TAKEN FOX WITH EASE. THEY HAVE EXCELLENT NOSES TOO AND ARE GOOD GUARD DOGS (LETTING YOU KNOW WHEN SOMEONE IS ABOUT).......

IVE NOT FOUND ANY OF THEM TO BE TIMID, SCATTY ETC......

ITS FINDING A TRUE GENUINE 1ST CROSS IS THE QUESTION.... :hmm:
