Ok well the normal rule for me is a hen should only mate to one cock per season and if wish to change brood cock.... the hen should be given moult to be clear....... But the reason I ask this qwestioned is..... And I hope not sound like duckwing..... But I was looking thought an old herbert ackinson book where he stated that he borrowed an old english black breasted red hen to a freined. Who bred this hen to a cold blooded spangled cock...... He got this hen back the following year and bred to black red cock...... But for the next six year a percentage off the spring would come spangled..... Evan tho it was less every year..... It was not till the last year of her life that she thought all black reds like her self........ She never bred a spangle be for she was mated to the spangle cock....... And the famley had been bred for 40 plus years and never produced a spangle...... Intreasted to hear what you fellas make of this....... Uk

I find routine is the best thing for my lot. After the early feed they get to roam free on around an acre an half for as long as possible, weather permitting. Although they can get in to their keep whenever they want they sometimes act silly beggars and stand in wind and rain lol.

I handle them all the time, easier done indoors though.

Ever try catching a rooster in an open field......... NO SUCH THING
