air gun ant 1,666
Pretty sure there illegal mate? There may be an exemption for rats but spring snares and drag snares are highly illegal methods and only to be used in survival situations (which is going to pretty rare in the uk lol) I could be wrong, I'm no expert Quote Link to post

Matt 160
Spring snares are legal for rats, moles and other 'small ground vermin' but not for other species like rabbits. If it's beam tealers you're after, I think Trapworks used to sell them. Baited snares for rats are not necessary; don't over complicate things any more than you have to; there are several ways to create 'benders' to snare rats on their runs, most of which are simple and effective. Thanks for that il be sure to have a look at that an I understand what you mean about over complicating things with bait etc but I had a bit of time on my hands so went down the garage for hour to potch about an that design Stuck out to me. as I only wanted to catch rats on beams with it an not to use it on the floor like it shows so I wont catch anything wandering in the stables then Quote Link to post

huntmad. 67
Caught plenty of rats using whip snares ... When set correctly they can be deadly ....... Wer they the same design as this or is there more whip designs, only for rats though Quote Link to post
Matt 160
Benders work very well on established rat runs. I've used several different designs; a basic figure of four tealer made from a hazel fork is simple and works well, as does the nail trigger. Have a look at some of the articles on here for ideas. socks 32,253
I use a different design and set up depending on the terrain or place I am catching ......... Quote Link to post
