mattyg 1,862
I'm looking at chartering a boat out of exmouth in August for a days fishing, I was just wondering if you lads can recommend any and also give me any tips, fished matches for years but now only really do a bit of fluff flinging and a bit of lure fishing for pike and suchlike so not really conversant with the sea fishing side of things. Cheers, matt P.s. I'm from the midlands but spend a fair bit of time in Exeter due to visiting in laws! Quote Link to post

mattyg 1,862
Cheers 8shot, I'm looking around first week in August , what could I expect to hook in the summer, Matt Quote Link to post
NEWKID 29,488
This was a trip last August on the boat I put up, not enough tide to drift for the bass wel,l so anchored up, Bream, Ling, Conger, Pout, Pollack (when we could drift), Mackerel Bass if you've got the tide and cod on some of the wrecks ( just coming to an end in August), the bass fishing can be good the skipper will provide the live eels. He's a good skipper mate, lot of experience, he does channel island trips through the summer so you'll need to ask early.... let me know your date, I might be about. 1 Quote Link to post

Tiercel 6,986
I fished the Skerries many years ago in march, best charter skippers I have ever been out with. They would adjust the boat to keep you on the edge of a grounce so that every one had a time on the edge. The only disapointment on the day was that all the plaice had spawned and were in poor condition. There were plaice caught that were the size of dustbin lids but barely weighed 3lb, in prime condition they would have made the 5lb mark. TC Quote Link to post
