I remember when little/late 70,s my grandparents having the veg garden, stocked larder, airgun by kitchen door etc ,dad had an allotment which was mainly spuds,as our garden was small at home,

Then he got promotion ,allotment ended ,and spuds were bought. I think that's when it happened for a lot of people,he knows the old ways but can't be arsed and has never had a interest in country sports but ate game when a kid as he was born in 1947 so it was still tight even then after the war.

So I reckon 70/80 s people's attitudes changed.

could it be when he didnt have time when consumerism set in mate ? working all hours to pay for the next must have thing, no way is that a dig by the way mate lol

We had moved house when I was little so the allotment was further away, and he could only get there at weekends, they were never into keeping up with the neighbours, his boss had the telephone fitted as when dad was promoted he was made a foreman and boss wanted to be able to get hold off him, outside work,

They are still frugal/tight as a ducks arse now,lol
