Country Joe 1,411
This came up on the thread Hares on here, there appears to be a few answers but what one is right? When i googled it, the CDC said 4 days or more, and the Mayo Clinic said 12 hours. don't know these two organisations. I always thought it was two weeks. Anyone know? sandymere 8,263
According to a former European Union directive,[37] freezing fish at -20°C (-4°F) for 24 hours kills parasites. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends freezing at -35°C (-31°F) for 15 hours, or at -20°C (-4°F) for 7 days.[38] The most common parasites in fish are roundworms from the family Anisakidae and fish tapeworm.[39] While freezing pork at -15°C (5°F) for 20 days will kill any Trichinella spiralis worm,[40]trichinosis is rare in countries with well established meat inspection programs,[41] with cases of trichinosis in humans in the United States mostly coming from consumption of raw or undercooked wild game. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raw_feeding#Bacteria.2C_viruses_and_parasites ) For the average home freezer a week to be really safe but basically until completely frozen all the way though so crystals form.
