Yep.....i bet he still looked like a 12 year old even then :D ......cracking little character Terry he was fun to be around,different generation from me but still all them old boys had all the time in the world for the generation below them and thats always nice.

 

i was working in camell lairds in 1987 and had to work with an old man called stan you could see he,d done a few rounds he had colliflower ears the flat nose and hands like shovels i used to love listening to his stories about his fights and he had written in big letters on boards were he worked sparring partners wanted he was some size for a 60yr old i would have like to have seen him in a ring he just reminds me of them old photos that borderscot posted :thumbs:

no they had all left when i started their i think it was because of the sit in and strike on that gas rig but everyone used to mention them gte

Ive got michel watson sparring gloves sighen make me an offer stiggo

got rid of all my gloves old medals and posters ---and pre 1970s programmes are my thing ...

 

Never been into all that memorabilia malarky myself but been given plenty of things over the years ive always put them in the kids charity auctions,cant believe some of the prices they fetch !!

i heard some great stories one that sticks out was all the stagers were sitting on the mersey wall doing nowt and a top manager walked round and collared them he says to them come on lads back to work and no one moved he screamed do you know who i am, albo said he doesnt know his name everyone fell about laughing at him he ended up just walking away shaking his head :laugh:

I could tell you some mate he was allways good to be around even on the door he could difuse a situation , A class boxing coach and a mentor are friday nights after the gym closed were legendry Even when they got jailed for that sit in they were banged up together albo and duke and one packet of sweets to last a week. Duke woke up in the middle of the night to a munching sound even after albo swearing one a day duke one each a day lol. Albo was a greedy fooker

I couldent sell them any way there were a gift , should see the gear in vagas gnash. Ali mhst have had 1000,s of gloves and shorts lol

 

I just dont understand it......not just boxers anyone films stars,pop stars etc....................why would anyone pay fortunes for shorts or a name written on a smelly old pair of used boxing gloves :D ................It always reminds me of the film The Last Castle when Robert Redford talks about the governors military collection ...." any man with a collection like this is a man whos never seen war on a battlefield " ....to him they was " heaps of metal " :laugh:

gave loads of mine away ---I buy it read it handle it then end up selling it .. it makes good money old stuff yes I can understand when I was doing the charity nights wayne rooney and beckham signed shirts making a grand never made much sense --I sold the stuart piearce penalty celebration signed photo at a golf do for 1500 quid :icon_eek:
