I questioned my self about that one all night ,did i hit it ,did the pellet bounce off all the way round i kicked my self over it and even went back to have another look for it but to no avail the next two i missed so i checked the zero again and it was spot on.This time we split up daz went one way and me another i came across a rabbit at about 35 yards so i went down on one knee took aim and just as i did that it moved so took aim again and it moved again so and so on until it hoped into the hedge so that one got away get you next time bugs i thought to my self as i walked away sweeping the field with the lamp i saw two bright red eyes at about 80 yards and as i took two steps some thing moved 30 yards in front of me another nice rabbit kneeling i took aim then it jumped up and ran towards me then it stopped then ran then stopped in the end it was no more than 7 yards away so i let one go just as it turned a nice heart and lung shot it just rolled over and lay still i looked for the one i saw at 80 yards but it must of legged it so i headed back to the car where on the way i met up with daz where upon he told me nice rabbit but not as big as mine we had a bite to eat then went for another walk about. bunch of C.U.Next.Tuesdays..............

LOL

Fall 1 - climbing over a barbed wire fence and did you ever get that "oh shit" moment? One leg over, one arm over, the other leg and arm intertwined like a solo game of twister? Gun in the free hand and I am like "ahh crap, this aint gonna end well"..... ended up flat on my back, no ripped pants which was a bonus, but scratched my bloody silencer on the HW100 Boooooooo.

Fall 2 - climbing over a cow gate (metal bar fence) and totally misjudged the drop (no wonder I can't tell 30 yrd in the dark, I can't tell 4 damn foot!!) dropped down and was so worried about bashing the gun that AGAIN I ended up on my arse...

Fall 3 - Walking along with Mac when the world dropped away from me, that step which you know is only 2-3 inches suddenly became 12" and I lunged forward with a "urrrgggghhhhh" and an involuntary little "arrghhhhh"... Mac was pissing himself next to me. We had to stand still for 10 mins for him to calm down the git.

As for the hunting, while Mac was looking for the "lost one" I spotted a pair of rabbits so went toward them. The damn wind was at my back and as I tried to circle round, they would counter circle against me and they always kept me up wind of them. I'm not a smelly (overly) person, but I knew as I sat still, a huge gust must have blown my scent to them and they both ran off.

After Mac and I split I went for "the long walk" to my fave spot. I walked to the far end and spotted 2 sets of 2 bunnies, I tried to stalk them both but the wind was on my back again and when I was 30 yards they went to cover.

As I turned to walk along the hedge the wind was now in my face and I managed to get to 25 yards of a rabbit. I went to go prone but as I took a knee he hopped closer to the hedge. I knelt still and he stopped, everytime I moved, he got closer to the hedge so in the end I decided to take a kneeling shot. Sadly much the same outcome as Mac. I watched the pellet hit in the head and he flipped, but flipped into the hedge row. From the permission side it is very thick and impossible to see, the other side of the hedge is a public highway so I couldn't go walking around on there for long. In hind sight, I may be tempted to leave rabbits alone that are so close to a warren/hedge.

I saw another pair of kits further up the hedge but as I got close they were spooked by a car on the road I mentioned. I walked another 20 ins and didn't see anything and thought, ah well, I've had my chance tonight, so walked towards the paddock to see if Mac was there. I was crunching away on some gravel when I thought I'd just flick on the lamp and look behind me (I always feel like the rabbits are watching me and as soon as I pass, they come out and stick "V's" at me!). As I swung the lamp round, I spotted an eye not 20yrd away. I froze and brought the rifle up to shoulder and looked in the scope, sure enough, head hunkered down, but one red eye, cross hair behind the eye, squeeze the trigger and bugs rolls over dead. I didn't pace the shot, but it was a standing unsupported from 15-18 yrds I would say. I couldn't believe he was so close to me. Very happy to see him roll over though.

We went back out again but the rain started to get worse and the wind picked up so we called it a night around 12:30am.
