Malt 379
They want to spend that money upgrading what's already there IMO.. HS2 is only for the benefit of the capital, I don't care what they say.. If it was really for the benefit of the north, why don't they complete the northern parts of the line first? London is already well served with transport links for the time being.. I'm not against massive infrastructure projects, I'd just rather see them elsewhere..
Born Hunter 17,965
How much will a return to London be from say Toton? A small fortune I bet! So it is only going to benefit those on 6 figure salaries... But then will it? I mean why not just B&B near London and use the tube, I bet that would still be cheaper than HS2 tickets. Public transport is too expensive as it is.... That said, I can't say I particularly care.
stealthy1 3,964
Its a lot of money to waste on trains for the privileged, I cant see any benefit to the link, but then I don't use trains, or work in the city, or have my transport costs paid for. robbo 879
I cant really see how its worth the effort or the money. Its only going to save about 25 minutes on the journey anyway. The planned route takes it within half a mile of my house and allotment[ back in barnsley] which wont really affect me [its underground in this part] but its going to cause a lot of heartache for a lot of people. I dont think i will live to see it finished anyway .
