Westy76 546
In 2 years that's £240 in 4 £480, minus the odd 50 for a few stitches or something. Biggest bill I've had is 200.Lucky you!!!!Personally I think this put a bit away theory is bollox myself on that basis I'd of still put a decent(imo)dog down, yes vets rack up the price but what do I care I'm not paying it only the £50 excess. My dog cost £3.5k to fix and will resume to normal working duty soon, worth every penny to have him back on the team. 1 Quote Link to post
weasle 1,119
I've had a shit year with the dogs but if my mrs hadn't set my lot up with insurance I'd have lost a dog and been very skint!!!! One of mine had a rta £3.5k,tail docked £300 and another had a toe off £750 the company happily dealt with vets on all accounts and paid ASAP. Wouldn't be without it now. Got a toe of couple of years ago 100 quid.3.5 k do you really think its going to work again and for how long. Each to there own but if you think I'm talking bollux I know you are and the vet must love to see you coming....... Vet "book a holiday love westys been in again" 1 Quote Link to post

Westy76 546
Hahaha yep he'll work no problem that's what they paid for and the surgeons done a top job. I never said you were talking bollox but most who say put a bit away have never had a massive bill like yourself and if the vet is having it away on top drawer holidays that explains the free consultations and permission I keep getting of him,as I said its not my cash I'm spending. Dunno what vet you're using but you'll not get many stitches around here for £50 and you'll not get much done for £200 that's for sure.... Quote Link to post

Rta whilst running quarry, both chest muscles left hanging off and took all the skin away from his chest is the short story. Happened early June and near as damn it fully closed now everything works fine runs and jumps like before. Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Perfect example of why we need insurance in my opinion that. Quote Link to post
weasle 1,119
Maybe I am lucky, last time I got stitches was a bank holiday, had to knock out bitch to stitch drip 50. That's the difference between a vet that does it because he likes doing it and a vet that does it for money,I'm sure the vet will happily charge full wack when some one comes into willing to pay it. Insurance company's are quite happy to pay out Monopoly money to vets because they know it will scare you into keeping up your insurance. At the same time if I ever get landed for a big vets bill,I know my vet would be happy to do it and get paid weekly or what ever, if he wouldnt he wouldnt be my vet, but 3 grand I would expect a dog with laser missile eyes. I only just read the whole thread and Paulus was about right, most dogs I've owned have walked out the vets having had there last shots at12 weeks and haven't been back again. Quote Link to post

Your not getting this are you Weasle I paid £50 for each procedure the rest I'm not bothered about not my money and my monthly payment is less than an afternoon on the piss so well worth it in my opinion. You can argue how cheap your vet is all day long but I don't want to be in a position of having to PTS a decent dog who will work again coz I a,couldn't afford it or b,won't pay the fees and be under no illusion I'm a soppy twat ill happily put a dog down if it can't work or retain a quality of life. weasle 1,119
Lol Your the one on shouting about how all the expensive treatments,by your price of a toe I'd say my 500 hundred would be about right. Bet your vet never said I'm doing well out of this don't bother with the 50 did he. No need to be getting all wound up, your happy, I'm happy your vets very very happy Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Not worth arguing over boys. Each to their own. You sound like a lucky man weasle. Very lucky. Dogs never get seriously injured, when they do your vet charges penny's and is happy to be paid weekly. You're laughing. Many of us aren't that lucky. I'm with westy here. If my vet wants to charge my insurance company £2000 for something that your vet would charge £500 then I really don't care as long as my dog is well and it only costs me the £75 excess Quote Link to post
weasle 1,119
I've had dogs seriously injured, but no amount of insurance would ever have them back running again.... Not saying don't insure your dogs but most of the claims you hear of are not real world prices... To be honest I'm thinking of insurance on mine now ,because I would expect the vet to pay me to go to him knowing the prices they charge. If a vet tried to ask me for 50-75 quid when I knew he was already earning 3-7 times more because I was paying my hard earned into insurance I wouldn't be happy chappy. Quote Link to post
