FERRETBOY 680
Picked up some rabbiting permission other week so headed down yesterday with the ferrets. Took me 30 mins to cycle 6-7 mile and got caught out in the rain but this quickly stopped as soon as i had arrived at the farm. After a brief chat i headed off over the fields with my bike. I noticed alot of runs in the middle of the field around a few nettle patches. So i stopped to look for holes. I foiund three small holes in a triangler pattern and netted up, i placed my jill on the ground and she scented her way to a hole, squeezed through the net and disapeared.with camera rolling i stood back waiting. The first rabbit bolted pursing the net around it perfectly , it was truly tangled and i didnt need to rush to dispatch it.the ferret followed and i let her have a scrap with the dead rabbit. She quickly lost interest and continued scenting around, so i popped her in a different hole. Then like a missile a second rabbit bolted . Lifting the peg from out the ground but still very much tangled. Great two rabbits in 15 mins, i then checked the hedge line and found one warren that wasnt hard to net and then enterd my smaller ferret. I waited for around 5 or so mins and then heard a squeal, i stuck my arm down the hole and felt the rabbit just moved further away. I pulled some earth out get my hand deeper and finally got a head grip. Another healthy rabbit. After that i left and the farmer wants meet to try along some other hedges. Well it was brilliant to be back out with the ferrets. Good hunting Rew 2 Quote Link to post

vermin catcher 219
Fair play mate, cycling for a bit of sport ,i used to walk 6-7 miles and hunt all day and walk back the same distance home when younger with a ferret box and about 15-20 nets and then probably went out lamping the same night. These days I drive, do a field or two and get up the next day thinking a steam roller has run me over Getting older is shite Quote Link to post

FERRETBOY 680
Thanks for the replies guys, I hands and knees did get slightly nettled but didn't feel it until I got home in the bath. I will be putting in the miles on my bike this season, and keep you guys up to date with all trips. Willing to meet anybody within 20miles of Nottingham city centre, I am the self sufficient cyclist after all. btw I apologise for any spelling mistakes and bad punctuation, I am using a crappy bb bold mobile and its small buttons and screen make it hard to write anything. good hunting Rew Quote Link to post
