Lure Only Days During The Winter Months

Recommended Posts

As the show season is coming to an end and the hunting season has now begun would there be much of an interest in having a number of lure only days during the winter. Not everyone hunts their dogs and I have spoken to lots of people at the various shows who never get the opportunity to school their dogs on the lure due to not having a lure or they don't have anyone to help them operate the lure and slip the dogs etc etc. There are dogs out there who showed little interest in chasing the lure but after a bit of schooling turned out to be great dogs. Also it will help people who have pups during the winter months as it makes it much easier if it's done in a group.

This has been talked about in the past but it would be great to get it up and running.

Dazzam helped my dog (ollie) who wouldn't even look at a lure, after a few lessons with this man, he was beating some of the best whippets about. Would recommend this man for any dog that needs trained. My new pup will be needing schooled in the winter. She's gonna be a quick one.

Thanks Ricky but all we done was school him on the lure....it's more to do with the work that you and Kirsty have put into him plus that Chontelle one....she's a dark horse....think i'll watch how she slips Ollie next time as I might learn a thing or two  . I reckon there's lots of other dogs out there which have loads of potential but just never get the opportunity to get schooled on the lure.

Listen Bluebandit, Dazzam could wait till your dogs are half way up the track, slip my dog from the van, he would jump the fence win the race and still be back in the van having a rub down and some (hay) when your dogs cross the line. And that would be after a good nights lamping the night before the race ffs. Its all down to ability not the slipper and to the sugar cubes and apples we feed him before a race.lol. Wish I could have been there this week but Cody is fighting in Scotland, I hope you all have a brill day and the weather is kind. And hope my dog remains undefeated to the end,if not ill blame Dazzam and,me not being there.;-) HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE.

If he jumped the fence and didn't run the whole course, I'm afraid we would have to disqualify him.......lol!!

Best of luck to Cody  , I'm sure someone will be keeping you posted on how things pan out on Sunday :whistling:

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE COUNTRY SPORTS  ARENA
As we approach the end to 2025, I would like to reach out and personally thank  all my friends in Country Sports for all  the hard work you  put into  organising our dog show and race days in 2025 for all to enjoy. These were all fantastic events and truly served as a wonderful window for our Country Sports fraternity.
Days like these at our dog shows in the summer are so important for our community, and your details and dedication to the cause has really shone through. So many charities have benefited over the years and so many new friends made at these get togethers  by like minded people. This was very evident in July this year when the Burren Working Dog Club gave £17,OOO to a charity. What an achievement.

I know there will be some very sad homes  this year,  with places missing at the  dinner table  in  our Country Sports  community. Can I please offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those people , and  hopefully with Gods help you will get through to brighter days ahead.

Many thanks to the McGrath Racing Club Carlow, for a great day out at the 5 Nations and who has travelled north and south of the border to run our racing so efficiently and helped me out on many occasions..  A special word of thanks to Tally Ho ( Peter Morgan ) for keeping the Country Sports window open in the dark days of winter by organising your virtual competitions and giving away so many generous prizes in return. This is so greatly appreciated .

And Finally, to my mentors and long term friends  Mr 5 Nations himself, yes The King of the Castle Albertj Titterington and his lovely wife Irene. Albert it is great to see you getting back to health again, and we look forward to seeing you back on the scene in 2026.

Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity  to  wish you all North and South of the border and further afield a very Happy Christmas and  Prosperous  New Year.

To we meet again in 2026 God Bless

      Margaret Mc Stay
