Giro 2,648
Out of interest why do Lads choose a first cross instead, of a line bred pup out of matching winning dogs ?? Serious question I don't keep coursing stock.. 2 Quote Link to post
Hot Meat 3,109
The few 1st crosses I've seen were all pants. Must have been unlucky but the few coursing dogs iv seen work were far better. I know what I'd rather have. Maybe it was just a few bad examples of first crosses I've seen but they have stuck in my mind, whereas I'm sure I'll have a line bred coursing dog at some point to really give 1 a good go at lamping ferreting an mooching Quote Link to post
Calli 93
039.JPG this bitch was a first x and could seriously spin them, and retrieved to hand, miss her a lot. 27tts. preban.008.JPG She is a beauty - great tuck up, strong front and very impressive underjaw I do admire the first crosses as workers 1 Quote Link to post
Saluki246 1,053
Some great pics folks, cheers. As i said, they seem to be very good for over here, with small fields ect, id say, bred back to a good saluki, would bring up the stamina and the resulting pups would run better on the bigger land if made the grade. Giro 2,648
Some tidy looking hounds.. Was "Wolf" a genuine first cross ?? My pal had a 3/4 1/4 Saluki grey hound bred out of him.. Dog was no good on the fens but up here caught plenty, very fast with a good strike no wind for long runs in daytime - on the lamp murdered loads of gear.. Quote Link to post
