Info On. 22

Recommended Posts

Hi all after having air rifles for a long time

I want to try something New and the ruger 10/22 kept on popping up now I have shot. 22 before but not for a long time

I was just wondering if just over 7 acres in enough to be able to use one on as I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of applying for my fac and then find out its to small an area to use it on.

As I havent used one for a while I would go down to the range before taking it out and get some intructions on how to handle it properly and to just get some good practice ( nowt better than paper punching)

So really is 7 acres big enough to shoot over

There is mainly farmers fields around and one with horses in it but I dont have to shoot in that direction. There is a small bank of soil along the fence line witch in 3 ft to a mtr high and around 3ft wide to help stop anything that doesnt stop at the rabbit

Any help would be greatful. M

I assume the land isn't passed or you wouldn't be asking this question?

To be honest it's all down to the layout of the land, if the FAO accepts it is safe to shoot a .22 rim fire with plenty of backstops then they wil pass it however 7 acres does seem a little small. The only way you would be sure would be to get the police to check it.

On a different note I've read don't get a 10/22 apparently you can't hit a barn door with one at 50 yards and they are no use beyond this range ( so people who have never owned one say) ....total b*llshit I own one and shoot many a rabbit between 30 and 100 yards all day long.

Good luck with your application let us know how you get on

This question goes round and round and the fact is size shouldn't really matter, it should be about topography/location.

But the simple view from many Police is commonly that size does matter. I have had an Open FAC since day one and regularly shoot in peoples pocket handkerchief size back gardens safely.

High seat could be considered if they give you a hard time.
