BS40liam 203
A mate of mine dug an incubator out of the shed for me to try and hatch some eggs, it was only used once buy his dad but he don't know anything about them. So what temp does the incubator need to be set at? And how long does it take for the chicks to hatch? It's a 10 egg automatic incubator so I know I don't have to turn them. Cheers for any advise

Tuzo 251
Does it have a fan in it ? If it does, then as Donny says it wants to run at 37.5 but of its still air (no fan) then it needs to run at 39.

donnyc 1,203
I did two hatchings in identical incies using eggs from my own birds ..One I ran dry the other with water in it the dry running one got better results both times ..Tried a few times and always got better results running dry
burnie69 376
What I was meaning Donny is different rooms in the house have different levels of humidity so we can get different hatches better or worse in different locations.I only use the R-com models now and they fully control all humidity.
donnyc 1,203
I had an Rcom but couldnt get on with it.Even tried the ones I use now with the auto pump but still get the better results dry..Each to their own really ..I hatch in the same room now and if its sunny I draw the curtains LOL .. burnie69 376
What I found is when I bought em new my hatch rates were crap. I rang up supplier and he told me it needed calibrating I was well peed off wasted a few eggs but after I did it the results were spot on. some hatches were all hatching but I always candle so there were no clears. It doesn't tell you about calibrating in the instructions or on the box so anyone buying a new R-com machine bear this in mind if your hatches are not what you are expecting
