Rapid Raid!

This evening I decided to get the Rapid out. Recently transplanted the optic on it and it needed zeroing in. So down the permission saw me mercilessly killing the cardboard box with newspaper in. Zeroed at 25 metres and checked holdover markings and at x19 it was giving 5 metre steps.

 

It was an oddly windless evening. Not a lot of activity (still too long till dusk). But as I stood behind the hay bale I noticed a lone rabbit emerge into the sheep paddock. Having lasered markers from this blind I knew the rabbit was at 50 metres. So I aimed, gently squeezed the trigger and waited. The Crosman struck home and the rabbit just rolled over! I was well pleased, until I realised I had to fight through 4 foot high blasted nettles to get to it! Oh exclamation marks!!!

I went back to the nettly knoll cursing and muttering about nettle stings from navel to knees (and on arms too). Climbing the knoll I spied a kit in the paddock and loosed another Crosman off. It was only 20 metres away and fell quickly to speeding lead.

 

Nothing else came out after I thundered over the fence so just the two tonight!
