All The Gear An No Idea

i dont think im much help but as nobody else has stepped forward so ill do my best..

i think both these nets are 5.5 inch mesh and the top one is square mesh but i do not have them here to check..

top line is only resting on theses pegs, the pegs have a small groove in the top for the line to sit in and it pings off when when the hare hits the net. you dont need the head to go through the net but it might be benifical if it was to.. im unsure on that as i normally just do rabbits and i prefer the head to go through for them but with hare theres a man on the net to gather the prize so less important, i think :hmm:

the net gathers around the hare balling it up and the man on the net then chins it..

again this net is not here for me to check but its knitted the normal way and not a square mesh net but still i think 5.5 inch mesh. unsure but i think the salvage is made from the same as the rest of the net but double knitted..

The net in that pic smithie is 20/15 spun poly (engels) double knit, 5 1/4 full mesh and 15 mesh deep, its set on hazel pegs with groves on top to sit in and anchored down with mini end pins, and as youve seen the hares push there head through and wrap up nicely.

At the back end of the season i made a few permi-set gate nets on hazel pegs with 8z nylon 4" mesh, these nets are various sizes and all have 50 percent extra running kill . i can leave these with the land owner should he surprise me whilst working his land. these net work brilliantly ill show you this coming season (on permission of course :tongue2: )

cheers lads id like to see a close up of how the top line comes off the poles

best i can do for you

these are the pegs holding the net

poor picture i know but they face away from the direction that you push the hare and the top line sits in the grove

with the hare hitting the net it will cause the top line to slip from the grove and the net will colapse and gather around the hare..

One of my hare gate nets I made is 18 ft long by 6ft deep which is 24 meshes deep it's not rigged up right in the photo I only put it this way for the photo. This one has sliders on each end. It's very much like a extra large poke net.

Looks very nice mate ,a net like that i wouldn't put up on poles just drape over the bottom two spars of the gate and the rest on the ground . just less to carry
