jam1e 12
I'm going to look at a used CZ 527 .22 Hornet shortly. And although i've been given some good advice as to what to look for regarding wear. I'd like to get an idea how old the gun is. Is there anything other than an early/short serial number to look for, or will there be letters stamped that signify age? Just to add that i'm aware age itself does not indicate a wornout gun, i'm just curious. Cheers Jamie Quote Link to post

jam1e 12
Cheers Geordie. It was stamped "93" on the left side of the chamber. It also said, "made in Czechoslovakia". So was a bit of a give away on its age anyhow. And point taken fellas...... Although in my defence i did say i agree "an old gun doesn't mean a worn out gun". And i "wanted to know out of curiosity". Turned out to be a bag of excrement anyhow..... The "shop", who shall remain nameless hadn't even bothered cleaning it! The bolt almost rattled round in the gun. The chamber was in a disgraceful state! You'd need half hours cleaning with hoppes and a toothbrush to be even able to inspect the chamber! The barrel was crammed with what looked like mechanics grease to me!??? And the bluing was almost transparent it was so worn. And all that for £395! (Gun only) I left it to one of those people crying out for one! I may just buy a new one yet. Depends what comes along between now and when my variation comes back.... Quote Link to post

hutchey 147
cz, great rifle! Quote Link to post
jam1e 12
I agree totally. CZ are the dogs for quality and price. I have 3 of them! But they may as well have been asking £600 for that .22 Hornet as they've got about the same chance as selling it for £400!! At least as long as they haven't got a wooden stick! Quote Link to post
