Stokespringer21 40 Posted June 10, 2013 Report Share Posted June 10, 2013 Hello people I'm in the stoke on Trent area recently got my own place and I am now settled in and ready for a dog,lived with my parents until now and they allways had a variety of dogs since I was a babe in arms currently own two good loyal springer spaniels who iv spent alot of time with and are well trained more as pets than working but they spend alot of time in the field. I can now have the time space and money to get my own dog a breed I'v always admired the LURCHER hoping to work it plenty of good quarry my jus want some advise on where to look for a good quality pup and any tips you guys have for a young lad starting out in the sport would be greatly appreciated cheers lads will be a very proud man when getting my first pup Quote Link to post

Stokespringer21 40 Posted June 11, 2013 Author Report Share Posted June 11, 2013 The area where I am is mostly open ground with a few wooded areas sum quite thick will be out night and day and I would always like to progress on to more than just the rabbit so will be looking for a dog with abit of size a collie mix is on the top of my list and would lookin at a bullx type be sensible for a first coursing dog thanks again lads Quote Link to post

Stokespringer21 40 Posted June 11, 2013 Author Report Share Posted June 11, 2013 Collie whip grey sounds a good bet theres some cracking walkin on my door step and I aslo work nights doing security and I'm able to take the dog with me the sites a partly disused distrabution site where im patroling most the night.the place is surrounded by open fields the place is teaming with rabbit fox pheasant rats and even ground nesting seagulls which the company are paying a pest controller to sort out you wouldn't belive how much quarry I see on there on a nightly basis.
