Flattening Feet?

Recommended Posts

before her accident cass had nice 'tight' toes....standing upright on her feet....

only picture i can find demonstrating it....

since....ive noticed her 3 'good' feet have started to flatten out...look a little out of shape....

and her bad leg has got SOFT pads....from hardly being used.

i take it this is normal in a 'disabled' dog? with her balance shifting and her feet having to adjust to the points of pressure with the ground?

just curious thats all

Could be nerves or because she's not been getting road walked that brings them up on there toes, my terrier that broke his neck has been quite low on his feet since the accident, shame ye couldn't click your fingers and her be like the top pic again, goin with what she's been through a wouldn't worry too much about her feet tho

I know in humans the tendons and ligaments will loose strength if they go from an athlete to nothing over night. Just the same as a muscle deteriorates. Maybe the tendons and ligaments that make up the joints in the whippets feet just dont have the strengtg at the minute to regain her original posture. With time and conditioning she may regain her original posture or adapt even.

Just for the record I think your commitment to that dog is outstanding and all dog owners should be the same. Well done mate.
