desertbred 5,490
I have never had a problem with pures although some take longer than others, not had very much to do with training x,s mate but the ones I have seen others training think they are about the same, I think its down to calm attitude and determination to do right by the dog.I like a dog to use its brain a little, I dont like dogs that have had their spirits broken as opposed to obedience, Edited March 22, 2015 by desertbred 1 Quote Link to post
skip1234 45
I have 2 saluki whippet greyhounds, and the younger one seems a bit shy his 15 months, and the elder one is 3 an half, and he is stable as any thing. A lot of people are weary of the saluki cross as in them being a bit deaf when called, although i believe my self, it is an age thing with this cross, because my older 1 of the two was jittery up untill about 18 months old, but i could not ask for a more understanding dog,in both work and obedience. I believe also to be calm round this type of cross, as in if you are a hot head, as we can all be sometimes, ive noticed that this cross are a lot more jumpy.. But as for their working ability, they have plenty of heart and once you are their friend, they will do any thing you ask.. It would be nice for any other comments from owners of this cross to share and also any pics, i will try and get some pics up of my two but my daughter will have to sort that, cheers. takes you to get them to your way of thinking very young i have 2 here 5 months doing everything i want them to , i whistle to them when i feed them so when i am out an whistle they come straight over to me well may be thats just me Quote Link to post
swg dave 334
SKIP 1234 As they get a bit older, and if you do encounter any problems, my advice would be to remain calm, shouting and getting hot headed will only have the opposite effect, not that this is going to happen in your case and also not that you are like that as a person. But with my younger dog he was a lot more nervous to be honest, as i did not get this dog till he was nine months old, but i ended up getting my head round him, trained him up and got him going, and now at the age of 3 he is a totally different animal. I would not part with him for the world, cheers. SWG DAVE.... Quote Link to post
