One bit of advice I'll give you which I've got off others is take that bowl of food out and feed them once a day. You want them piling into the food dish when you call them, either a whistle or shakin

yeah gnipper mate they will work an thieve anything that resembles a pigeon, even when flown in a flock pouters will peel off and go hunting if they spy a pigeon, to get the most out of the sport you

got myself 4 new pigeons 2 limerick tumblers and 2 Birmingham rollers well chuffed we them as its the first time i have kept them

Shit happens mate, I lost 2 of my first 4 rollers because they weren't hungry, settled or properly used to my call but everything else I've got now pile through the trap at the sound of the can rattling. If they don't attack the bowl like a fat bird on a cake their overfed.

he's them trained like dogs  good to see it thoe  my rollers seem to dive better in to the dishes than my limericks,, but i have a pair clocking so i try to keep some food in 4 her when shes getting of to feed :hmm: what way would you do it or am i doing it right? :hmm::laugh:

I'd leave the pair on eggs in one half and chuck everything else in the other half, the more birds in the cage the more they compete over the food. If they don't dive in the feeder while your next to it ignoring you then take it away and try them the next day.

Have you got traps on the cages for them to get back in?

nah no traps,,, i just divide the cage in two and what evers put out just to land back on a shelf i put up running from the fence onto edge of cage then when there in i just close over and open the divider let them through the hole run again,,,, what's the best way to make a trap wouldn't mind making one for the pen  that's exactly what the rollers do haven't a care in the world for me being there,,, must be doing them right  may divide breeding pair from rest and get them the same

Bob wires or a drop trap is what you want mate. I've just knocked up a drop trap with a 45 degree bend of 4" pipe that works well, one of my rollers had worked out how to get back through the bobs.

I used to keep fantails and tumblers: only problem was, they bred and bred, until I had a fookin great flock of the things and they took to sitting on the house roof in between exercising themselves ........ after a while it looked like it had snowed only on my house :icon_eek::laugh::laugh::laugh: Fun to watch, but messy b*stards

hahaha same hear pal getting fed up with swilling shit off everything only got 4 left one of the lurchers killed 3 in 2 weeks

used to make bob wires out of wire coat hangers --- bent in the shape of a upside down u 7 inch long wire tack in each corner so it swings --the bird puts its head in walks forward to open -- it drops back into place once the birds dropped in the loft ...

This tippler cock is the laziest fecking thing I've ever seen, he does a lap then he's on a roof which messes up the birds still flying so on Saturday I chucked him out at the top of the road to A see if he.made it back and B get him some exercise and he found his way home ok. Yesterday about 5 I took him a mile or so out on the moss near ours and dumped him, he flew in the right direction so I thought he'd beat me home but the fecker just turned up now :) . At least he's had some exercise anyway. I might try him an extra mile and chuck him out at work if he doesn't perk up after his day trip. If that doesn't work he's ferret food anyway ;)
