You know its a desperate game when you got to find other ways to entertain yourself.....this is what we had to resort to sunday......but at least we might win something this season http://www.101gre

You miss the point Stewie, I totally get where gnash is coming from. My clubs Celtic(incase anyone didn't know ) I'd hate them to move down to the English prem. yes Scottish football is shite but its

I meant the game in terms of what its about......essentially,its a competition to see who wins and who loses.....nothing changed has it ?   And ive said for many years i feel sorry for fans of clubs

:D ....Think i remember you saying something about his style of tackling....not alot of sliding, more of a block tackle and away with the ball. I'm sure thats what that idiot Baw was trying to get at.....

Bobby Moore was the King of the world in my eyes.....always will be..............." a man with the class to wipe the mud off his hands.......before accepting the World Cup off the queen " ...I always thought summed him up perfectly.

Ive never met a football fan with 1 bad word to say about the man....................dont go and be the first will you theres a good lad :D

:D ...I'd be making it up if i did mate.....never seen him kick a ball but if Peles saying he was one of the best then i'm happy to believe that... Just like baw saying mo Johnstone was one of the worlds greatest wingers........... :toast:
:icon_eek:
"greatest wankers!!"....

 steady lad

 .....never even noticed it came up with 'wankers' mate....only ment that wee f***ing fraggle Mo....... :censored: ........Oh and its a Block and Tackle...... :tongue2:

soon be saturday gnash ..... for a club that was nearly skint and playing championship football the odd bore draw at a little club like liverpools not all bad ...

We,ve been in trouble on and off the pitch before.............and never had to resort to buying 7 foot Africans or lumping the ball up the pitch......we became a respected club because of our traditions not inspite of them !

Agree With Everything You Say But Bully !! . . No A Bully Is Someone Who Goes After The Weak And Keane Never Did That ! Remember Vieira Bullying Neville In The Tunnel At Highbury Who Was Down The Tunnel In A Shot Defending Neville . . Keane , And He Told Vieira Straight , The Incident With Harrland , Stood Over Keane Taking The Piss As He's Lay There With His Cruciate Ligament Gone , He Went Out And Done What He Thought He Had Too Do ! not Getting Others To Do It As A Bully Would ! no Baw Keane Was A Winner And If He Seen Anyone's Standards Dropping He Told Them , Just A Straight No Fecking About Man And Maybe He Was Born Too Late For His Trait . . Good Story On Jock Stien Though !

Cant agree with that mate......if i remember right, did Keane not end Hangerlands career ?..........what was he getting revenge for Hangerland didnt touch him Keanes injury was an accident............so he stood over him big deal............" done what he thought he had to do "............it was a cheap and cowardly thing to do.

Dont get me wrong i liked Keane as a player.....but as a man he comes across as an idiot.

Isn't the Premier League all about money and not a great deal about football? It is the worst thing that could have happened to English football by a country mile. Things started sliding downhill when the government stuck it's nose in and they discarded the three foreign players rule and opened the gates for full teams to be made up of a mixture of nationalities. The only reason they did this was to attract the big names so they could sell the rights to the games around the globe.

I don't know how you can say the teams do not go out to "win at all costs" because the players will try and get into a position of wining a free-kick in a certain area rather than pressing for an open play goal. They had to bring in the rule for referees given the right to book a player for play acting because it got too much to watch, still is when they feel the slightest brush and go down. I wonder if they are constantly having to pick themselves up off the pavement when walking through London and peopel brush against them or come within 6-inch of them?

To be honest I do not feel the title of "English Premier League" is a correct description because there is very little English about it. The Premeir League has ripped the morals and values out of English football thanks to government politics, tv rights, advertising and the whole pathetic circus of money spinning crap that goes with it. It used to be thought of as "the poor man's game" as ticket prices were pittance but now a ticket can cost you a minimum of £15 and upwards into the hundreds.

The romance of the game has gone completely because a team that has the right team spirit can not come from nowhere if they stick together and win the title because it is the team with a bit of spirit but ultimately the biggest bank balance that will rule the roost.

I will not miss football one bit if I never saw anyone kick a ball again and that is coming from someone who had a football on the end of their boot everyday until about 5years ago.

If your a genuine football fan but just dont like the way the English game has gone.........you would go down the local park and watch Sunday football.......

The fact you say you would not miss it if you never saw a football kicked again...................tells me your not and probably never was a true fan of football.

I've played every day of the week football you care to mention Gnasher, it's filtered down to grass roots football hence why I jacked it in. I was playing Saturday and Sunday league football with a couple fo 5-a-side and 7-a-side matches mid-week when I stopped because there were too many folk being snipered inside the 18yrd box or surrounding areas.

The nail in the coffin was about 10mins after an incident which saw me and another player challenge for a ball, one of those beautiful moments where it's a shoulder to shoulder challenge. I lost out unfortunately but nothing came of it. Then the same situation arose with the same player, the shoulders met, he was off balance and managed to roll a few yards up the slight hill of the pitch we were playing on. After he came to a stop he was screaming at the ref to do something and when the ref waved play on he tore after me and proper poleaxed me. I got up and gathered the ball for the free-kick whilst he got up and ran over to the ref effing and blinding about how could he not have booked me for the foul I committed on him. This went on for sometime with some of his team mates joining in with the ranting. As I was captain I went over to try and defuse the situation and ask if we could just get on with the game. Everything seemed to calm down until I received the ball again and I then had the same player and one of his ranting buddies (the other central midfielder) come clattering into me and then tread all over me as they "tried" to get back up. The ref booked them both and then it all kicked off.

I realised that the game in general was now a "get whatever advantage you can" scheme and a few incidents in previous games came to light confirming my suspicions. Getting a player of the opposition sent off was just as good as scoring a goal.

I'd been asked to go play for a few teams after odd ones disbanded and the attitude in the dressing rooms turned your stomach, half of them were just out for a fight whilst the other half were scheming plans against opposition players they'd had dealings with before. I didn't even stay for those games and walked away but that attitude crept into every standard of football I played. I've been to see friend's kids play and the parents are screaming at the ref to book the other players etc, these are 7yr old kids for crying out loud, they've got the same co-ordination as a blind drunk so there are bound to be a few mis-timed tackles etc, it really was a disgusting thing to see.

Fair do,s i can understand that  ............I thought you meant purely from " a fans " point of view..................ive never played the game so i,ll take your word for it.

Seen from both sides of the pitch between us Gnash.

I think the most folk I've played in front of was a couple of thousand but even when it was raining sideways or blazing sunshine I never left anything on the pitch. I was a "win at all costs" player but I never got booked for any foul play (got sent off for hand ball in the area despite wearing a white top and there being a big mud spot on it on my side abdomen where I got hit as it was only the first few minutes), if players were struggling I helped out, if we were a few goals up I never wanted it to slip, played to the whistle and made sure everyone on the opposition had a drink before any of our boys got to the bar. Great days, just a shame things came to what they did/have.

Dont think he played again so he didEnd His Career But When Keane Was Injured Yes By Accident , Standing Over Him Abusing Him Was The Trait Off A Coward . . Fortunately For Weatherall he Never Faced Keane Again ! Edited by lanesra

I might be wrong but i seem to remember reading somewhere Hangerland thought Keane had dived for a penalty and was simply standing over him ranting about that.............ok he got it wrong and Keane was genuinely injured but that happens a hundred times a week i dont see it as " cowardly ".............whereas what Keane did was definately cowardly in my book............it could be said if it was just about revenge im sure he could of found him somewhere other than a football pitch.................I think Keane liked the hardman image, even though i dont think he was a particularly hard player at all.....firey yes....but not hard.

He comes over as a bit of a poisonous attention seeking little prick to me and maybe thats just in his nature.
