Rake aboot 4,936
I know it`s been done before, but I`d be interested in any setups that folk might have. I`m looking to fit a new sustainable system including a boiler stove, and solar water heating fed to a thermal store What have you got,, any pics ? I`m after a contemporary style as well, maybe the Stratford eco16he

moxy 617
I have a big 12kw bitch. And no that's not Tracey from next door!! Built in back boiler which will do the hot water, full tank in about an hour just ticking over, quicker at full steam. It also does half a dozen radiators once the hot water tank is hot. I have a large pump to circulate the heat around quicker. Looks the part and its nice when belting out the heat. It rarely goes out. Stoke it up before bed, shut the dampers and it smoulders away happily all night. Open the dampers in the morning and away it goes again. Bad points. ........ You need a colliery and a wood yard to feed it, it has to be cleaned daily to run efficient and when it's red hot you need a fire suit to stoke the fecker. And regular flue sweepings a must. Not had anything to do with solar stuff.
Rake aboot 4,936
The thermal store should mean that I only have to burn it a short while,, the water will last,, the fire won`t go out, but the stove closes in when the water temp gets up,, hopefully be pretty efficient, and wont burn a forest a month. You have a back up system Moxy,, or just the solid fuel ?
moxy 617
No back up rake. It's all or nothing but fortunate for me I have access to my own wood yard!! So to speak. If it goes out its money down the drain electric heaters or extra jumpers!! And the immersion heater.
