I got given 2 ferrets in September a jill & a hob, they live together in an outside enclosure. The hob had a vasectomy middle of February, the vet gave him all clear, but no advice on separation. About 2 weeks after vasectomy the hob started to mate with the jill, I checked her & there was no swelling. The mating has got more frequent, but not sure he's hit the spot yet. She's getting a little sore on the neck as well now. She is now swollen. I've separated them now. I've since been told that they should have been separated for up to 6 weeks & that the vasectomy could have reversed. What I'm asking is should I put her back with him or give her a few days rest? Should I be worried that the vasectomy has reversed?

Hob should not be with any gills for at least 6 weeks after op till his tubes empty and he is fireing blanks.

A had a hob done a couple of years ago was ok first season after his op and took the gills out of season no bother next season put him with the gills and they were all expecting his tubes had reattached according to the vet this can happen she has just done my new hob cheap 3weeks ago so he has at least another 3 weeks to go before he can get don to buisness

The hob need's to empty his tubes of live ammo thats why you have to wait the required time 6-8 weeks or he could still get the jill pregnant ,with only one jill he will mate with her all the time and your going to have to remove her or he could mark or cut her
