Ha.....I reckon i could write Gnasher reply too this off by heart by now...... :D

:D ....Funny thing is without even reading the thread i knew word for word what Baws post was going to say before even clicking on it,my only surprise was it took him this long !

What Baw seems to get confused with though is the words " LEAGUE " and " CLUB "..............a league has 20 odd clubs !!.....i agree England doesnt possess the strongest club at this moment ( even though an English club is the current Champions League title holders :whistling: )...................but thats what the Champions League as a competition is for to find that out and as he rightly says no English team has reached the current stage so no argument there.............but this is 1 season !!...........Over the last 10 years an English club has won it 3 times......no other country can top that....and it was 3 DIFFERENT clubs every time not like the 3 times Spain has won it with Barcelona ONLY !

As regards Man Utd walking away with the league this year......yes they are and thats not good from a competetive point........but Barcelona are about 15 points clear in Spain......Juventus are about 12 points clear in Italy.......Bayern Munich are a good 20 points clear in Germany.............are they all poor leagues then ?

My bet would be the likes of Everton,Newcastle,Fulham etc are better clubs than the equivalently placed clubs in Italy like Torino.....Getafe in Spain....or Wolfsburg in Germany.....if you are comparing LEAGUES that is...............i,ll resist comparing with the Scottish league........now that would be silly

I thought it was just celtic fans who spoke about Europe in the past tense....., do you know it took us to show you lot how to win it :D yes Barca etc are running away with there league but the sign of a strong club is one that can do it both in Europe and domestically. No point in guessing how better the also rans are in your league compared to their European counterparts. Best sticking to the hard facts and that's the elite, which is your Man U, Chelsea, real, Bayerns of the world. Your lot haven't competed and that's a fact  so you can dress it up how you like..... Right now Celtic competed with Barcalona....... Man U.... Err well got beat by a ref
And thats my point .....your either comparing CLUBS or your comparing LEAGUES....which is it ?......If its leagues the English Premier league is still right up there.....if your comparing clubs well quite clearly English clubs wont be up there this year, but as a competition over the last 10 years English clubs have PROVED the English league is by far the strongest by 3 DIFFERENT clubs winning the title.

 your a tricky f****r, I'll give you that. Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea all won it the last 10 years. All in a precarious position financially no? The last 10 years or so has been your most prosperous time and yes, they did all do it. But look at your best team now, the one that's running away with your league. Investment has been poor. No van nistelroys or Ronaldo's. yea they have van persi, not a bad player. Prob equates to torries. Rooney I've never really rated. They're still relying on Ferdinand and Giggs lol. You can say I'm just talking about a club and not the league, but that club is pishing that supposed strong league  so really, how strong are the rest?

English football, one of if not the richest leagues in the world but is it really all that? No matter how rich they are they don't have the best player in the world or the best team in the world, Spai

You get wilf, I'll take that other wee c**t

Have you seen Giggs play recently Baw? United have used him sparingly this season, more so now towards the end of the season when his experienced head is needed to guide the younger players over the line.. Same with Ferdinand.. Make no mistakes, Fergie ain't known for his sentiment, if either player didn't still merit their place in the side or at the club, they wouldn't fecking be there!

Isn't it the Barclays Premier League not the English Premier League afterall Swansea City play in it and the way Cardiff City are going they'll be in it next season too and last I looked they were Welsh !! I suppose if Cardiff and Swansea wanted to reach Europe every year they could go play in the Welsh Premier league.

Baw you say best sticking to facts................yet you are ignoring them !!!

This is a FACT.....in the last 10 years 3 DIFFERENT English clubs have won the champions league,no country has won it more..........Spain has equalled that with 3 wins also but only Barcelona have won it.

Does that not suggest the English Premier league is the strongest ?...................If you cant see that then i think it can only be because you dont want to ;)

Johnnyboy i know your a Utd or Liverpool fan i cant remember which now..................but with possibly 2 Welsh clubs in the premiership next year will it not be tempting to get behind your own lot ?.......and you Malt ?....................Im not trying to grind your gears by the way im just genuinely curious how that works :D

No Gnash, I'm not temped in the slightest mate.. I always look out for their results and enjoy seeing them both doing well, but that's as far as it goes with me mate.. I haven't got anything that connects me with either city or club apart from being Welsh.. I chose United as a young kid in the mid '80s because my dad had grown up a United fan, and thats the way it will always stay.. I know loads of people local who have jumped on the Swansea bandwagon, but to me that no different from the way impressionable young school kids change their allegiance to a club based on whoever wins the title..

I support Liverpool and I'd never switch alliegance tbh it just wouldn't sit right with me, though I do look at the results of both with interest, a lot of my mates go to watch Cardiff and a few have jumped the "glory" bandwagon so to say, the one lad was a huge Leeds fan but if you speak to him now its Bluebirds this, bluebirds that, now that grinds my gears.

If i'm truthful I love football but not on the same level has I love rugby.

A think the german league has improved the most in recent years . I think in the last 10 years you have had Munich , dortmund, werder bremmen ,stuttgard , wolfsburg and maybe another all win there league . Going off that you would have to say thats a fairly healthy league even if munich are 20 points clear this year .

People moan about the current United side not being that good yet we're on course to take the title with a record number of points if we keep on at the current rate.. This team might not have the flair players that others have had in the past, but the amount of times the current team has won games from loosing positions this season speaks volumes IMO..

I await the backlash!

No one ever remembers how you won mate, they just remember that you did........in sport, thats all that counts.

Don't altogether agree with that Wilf, if that was the case how come people can look back and compare teams of the past with teams of today?

Cause they got f**k all else better to talk about mate  ........When I was playing I remember scoring 4 in the semi final to put us in the final, the 4th of those goals I picked up the ball at the half way and it may have been slightly over the touch line :whistling: .......when we went on to win the final, I can honestly say I didnt for one second think (as I was lifting the trophy) "this would have been sweeter if that ball had been fully in play":laugh:

No one remembers the decision that could have gone either way, or the offside that was or wasnt, or the fact that your centre mid or left back had a crappy season.......your teams name gets put on the side of that cup, you get your winners medal and thats the end of it.

Case in point, Solkear and Sheringham when you won the CL, no one ever says "ol, but they played 5 minutes of time added on".......you won it, end of

Always makes me feel fans like yous miss out on all the camaraderie and banter that go,s with following your local club.......i understand why and how you become Utd and Liverpool fans........just wondered if you felt you miss out what with Swansea/Cardiff playing against the clubs your pals support etc.....that must be hard.

Thats something i always liked about my part of London if you was born around West Ham you dont need to " support " you just are !! ....theres not a choice in the matter :D

Id imagine its quite exciting times for genuine Swansea/Cardiff fans young and old......nice clubs as well ive always enjoyed visiting their grounds.
