Pups 1St Rat???

How long does it usually take a terrier pup to kill his 1st rat, I'm watching youtube video's titled pups 1st rat and in these videos its all over in seconds. Took my lad an hour and a half to kill his 1st one today.

feck me was it bionic and wearing a suit of armour..... it should only take a few seconds he`ll get the hang of it :thumbs:

He was terrified of getting bit, mainly what he did was bark, growl and paw at it, hope he put in a better effort the next time

i showed my pups one in a trap at 5 month and they did not look like they was ready so i left them till 8 month and it was over in seconds there was 2 of them tho there 10 month naw and killing them when we go ratting with the older dogs

 

 

Thats true, they're alot braver in twos when they're confronted with something new.

My Plummer was mad for em at 51/2 months single handed but all dogs are different, leave him a couple of months then try him again maybe with a dog already killing them, abit of rivalry might get him going and a bite of a rat will make him realise its not a game and needs finnishing qwick, atb gary, buster.

i`ve had some do rats at 3 months working with the older dogs and take to it like they`ve being doing it all there lives
