deanflute 550
Just wondering if anybody uses their garages as a kennel set up with some sort of run attached to it? Pictures would be good if so as it's something i'm considering Cheers Dean
Gaz_1989 9,539
I'm in the process of doing this. 2m x 2m galv run inside the garage up one corner with a 4' x 4' wooden box in the corner of that. 12" x 24" hole going into 1m x 2m outside run with a galv roof on. I was going to just put the box up against the outside wall and put a hole straight through into the box. But how I'm doing it, it will stop draft and weather blowing straight through into the box. It will also stop bedding (shredded paper or cardboard) getting spread around the garden and should only spill into the garage. Also I can put water bowls inside the garage run area to prevent them freezing over in winter. I know that they may crap inside the garage run area, but this is no biggy, it's a sealed concrete floor. Another advantage is that I can put a drop down hatch onto the garage and lock them in at night if needed. Cheers Gaz
TOMO 29,958
Not a garage as such but an out house, that a partitioned,, one side for the dogs, the other for freezer and storage. Mine has no run either,,there's a raised bed. It's not ideal not having a run, but I just can't theirs no where for one,,, so it's a case of let them out on the garden, and plenty of walks ect
the night hunter 130
took everything out of the garage and put galvanised pens inside works fine..
deanflute 550
I'm thinking of just separating the back part off with a run outside. No chance of getting a car in as the garage is behind the house so it seems daft not utilising it.

Gaz_1989 9,539
Yeh that would probably work well. Then put a kennel box at one end I assume?

The Seeker 3,048
I've got this set up, at the rear of the garage is a single UPVC door which I cut a dog flap in, I built 1.5 mtr square cage around my work bench which is gated so I can fold it back when needed. Under the bench I put a packing crate which I insulated inside with foam and sealed so his bed is raised off the floor. At night I lock the dog flap so he's secure in the day it's opened so he has the run of the rear garden which is secure and can go in and out of his bed at will, however I have just ordered some panels off eBay to build a run on the outside
