Hi guys, i have just been in contact with a chap who has got a litter for sale, both mam and dad are real hard working dogs so im told. Anybody got any experience of this cross and do you think they would make good rough shooters dogs ? Cheers all hh

I've kept and worked several chessies and never seen any that would fight. However they were all mad as hatters and if you cross it with another dog thats as mad as a hatter ie a springer you will end up with one very hard to handle dog. Stick to a lab would be my advice. Nothing else to touch them.

We had a 2 year old dog on the shoot last week looked more like a chocy lab x bull lol head like a dustbin lid wasn't to keen on all the other dogs bitches weren't to bad . We had 4 other chessi on the same day different owner but all dogs related the other 4 are always fine

The lady that works them she does a sterling job they pic great mark well leaves all 4 sitting walks away has drinks n nibbles after 2nd drive dogs left sitting there for 15 min never moves a inch lol . Normally 3 bithchs n a dog and alternates dogs. But the dogs have dustbin heads and so do 2 of the bitchs just keep them away from water on the shoot otherwise there off for a mid day swim . The bloke who had the large dog last week lets his tow him in his kayak he says he does it with ease like its just a game they never tire or lag either bags of stamina and will work cover well flatern it lol

Any that I've had have been yappy b*****ds. They have a mind of there own and can be hard to work with. No doubt there hardy waterfowl dogs though, I've seen one Chesapeake carry 35 plus divers out of a 3 foot wave on lough neagh on his own in January. Not many dogs that stick that kind of work. A Labrador will work to please you, a Chesapeake works to please himself!
