ferret_uk 4
Just took my gun to see what preasure it was shooting at and got the bed news of it been 9.6lb which i know is no good to nobody. What can it be that is making it shoot at such a poor power? I was thinking the spring but is there anything else that could cause this? Thanks Ferret_uk Quote Link to post

Thanks Ferret_uk Hi Ferret 9.6ft lbs isn't too bad, I have a TH78 that from new only shoots at around 6.5ft lbs First thing you can do is to shoot a pellet out whilst your hand is covering the breech, if you can feel a small blast of air then your breech seal will need replacing.. Other than that it could just need a a bit of a fettle, stripping, piston seal and possibly a new spring and then cleaning and relubing, the trigger could be made smoother by polishing the mating surfaces (the shiney bits) with fine emery cloth ot wet & dry paper.. If you haven't stripped it before, HERE is an exploded view of the parts... Good luck with gun EDIT- Ooops!! ferret_uk 4
Thanks a lot for the reply mate, I have a lad looking at in tonight and hoping to find the problem, Been thinking of a Theoben gas ram conversion but heard a mixed report apart them seems its either hate them or love them i suppose Thanks Ferret_uk Quote Link to post
barrywhite 282
gas ram NO .The myth they dont lose power like a spring .They leak gas like a balloon .they do shoot nice they dont just drop into the gun you have to mess a bit .A tuned up spring is better .....but if you want good performance from a spring gun spend your money on a good gun a standard 97k will out shoot a lightning tuned to the max .the 97k will probably be cheaper in the long run and is a better made gun with a 1000 percent better trigger.there are a lot of better guns than a lightning just put a new spring in it .If you want to spend money get a better gun . secretagentmole 1,701
johnbaz, buy a T R Robb full tuning kit, transforms an XS78, I had a QB 78 (the deluxe model), that was making 7.3 foot pound, the Robb kit kicked the power level to 11.5 foot pound! Seriously easy and works like charm. So easy I managed it in an evening! The trigger tune kit is also worth looking at too! Transforms the weapon! 1 Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
spring, breech seal and piston seal could be the possible cause of power loss, the complete standard replacements can be had for a little over £30 and should bring your rifle back up to scratch Darryl Quote Link to post
