Fox pelts?

Last six days I have had five foxes from around my fowl pens, just told my mate and he said that's £250 in pelts! Surely the market has not started up again has it?

Flipping heck. In the late 70's early ' s I would get £25-30 for a good winter un damaged pelt. £5-15 for a pelt any other time of year! Hope £250 for 5 comes in!!!!! Can't see it though

Thought my mate was pulling my pisser but he has been seeing them go for that on evil buy, so they would have to be treated to Some extent. Buggar, thought we were going back to the good old days for a bit there.

I bet most pelts sold on Ebay are from Canada, Russia, USA. Colder climates where the pelts develop better than in warmer climates like this part of the world. I'm not sure for all the work involved in skinning and tanning them there's any money to be made. Not heard of anyone buying them, but there may well be.

My old man and Junior etc bought their first landrover with pelt money in the 70s

Fella used to come collect them every few weeks, inspect them on the boards and then pay us cash. Nice little earner until the fur market dried up.

My old man and Junior got up to £30 a pelt £1 for the skinned body and 50p for each one killed. The body was picked up by the Institute for Terrestial Ecollogy in Banchory (checking stomach contents etc) 50p from the West Lanarkshire Fox Destruction Club for every adult checked in.

Tell us more then. Air dried or salted pelts died out for us years ago. ( or at least it wasn't worth doing)

Yes Jimmy passed away last year I think by the time my old man had got a hold of Jonah he'd missed the funeral.
