Anyway I went to a kennels on the way home from work and met the owner, this is how the conversation went "Is it a dog or a bitch" Dog "Is it castrated" No "We don't have GSD's because there urine smells too strong and they piss everywhere" Now I reply with raised eyebrows "More than any other breed" "Yes, I'd have to see him" "No problem" I said "hes in my truck", we go to the back and in my mind I've already decided he ain't coming here, I don't want this halfwit anywhere near any of my dogs but I open the tailgate and the dog is in a cage trying to lick the guy "I don't know there not well behaved, you would have to get him out and try a trial day before..." "Whoa" says I, "you obviously don't like the breed and have various misconceptions so for my dogs sake I will find him a kennel that is suitable". My mind is screaming knob but I restrained myself.....I have trained shepherds that won in various competions, working trials, nosework, NASDU and this guy probably couldn't train a clematis up a trellis if his knowledge of shepherds is anything to go on. MATTI 34 Posted July 3, 2007 Report Share Posted July 3, 2007 I know exactly how you feel simoman, we have 3 AmBull's and to find a kennel that would take them and we thought had the knowledge took a while, but we found 1. The lass that run's the kennel's can't wait for us to go on holiday again, she had never had a bunch of dog's like them before. You can tell by there face as soon as you tell them what breed you have whether or not to leave them. Hope you have luck finding 1 that suit's you and your dog. P.S. have a good holiday. ferret15 0 Posted July 3, 2007 Report Share Posted July 3, 2007 because i have four dogs people think I'm mad (i am but the dogs arnt the reason) i had a baby six months ago and every non hunter including so called dog lovers said are you gonna get rid of the dogs mine are not in kennels they live with me but know the difference between prey and human beings my baby has just started crawling and he crawls over the dogs they don't bat an eyelid the collie cross comes to get me if he cries !! I'm sure people only made theses comments because the lurcher's if it had been a little fluffy westie no one would of said a word and in my opinion westies can be nasty little b*****ds in the wrong hands i had one rip a hole in my dogs chest !! i hope you find some where for him if you were further south i would offer to have him ( i dog sit for a few people in this area that like them to stay in a home environment) didn't lurcher bitch set something like this up before she left are you any where near her. I actually run an animal collection and had some pet sitters in for a husbandry session, we did reptiles, rodents, fish, livestock, ferrrets etc etc. These people were clueless I shit you not and would have made a tamagatchi extinct in doublequick time. Plus I don't want strange people in my house looking for my "magazine" collection..........(Ideal home and Gardeners world). ferret15 0 Posted July 3, 2007 Report Share Posted July 3, 2007 by pet sitting i mean i look after them in my home the dogs i have here love it i have one that stays for six weeks at a time he pines for my dogs when he goes back so we go out together once a week to keep him happy. i couldn't be away from my lot for long longest my animals have spent with out me is three nights (i was in hospital) they even came on honeymoon with us (they all have passports) i said lb because you all know her and trust her (i think) its always better to leave them with someone you know Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I was going to kennel mine, for the first time, with a friend, who would put mine in the isolation wing, because the old terrier isnt boosted [it fucks bitches up], who then let me down, a day before we were due to go away to centre parks, which is only 40 miles away. Upshot was, i walked and fed, mucked out etc, very early, then drove, to the park for the day, with the family, and came home around 9, and did it all again. Was no holiday for me, for 5 days, but i managed to keep everyone sweet, most importantly, my dogs.I,ve never kennelled, and now, never will.I trust no one, apart from the wife, with my babies, and its caused problems in the past, but thats part of owning dogs, aint it?
