staffyspen 43
Hi all, Just looking for your views on how you get older ferrets, not kits, used to dogs? I'm hopefully getting my first ferreting dog, beddy x whippet in the next months, I've got 2 ferrets at the moment with 1 or 2 more in mind. Some of these ferrets are rescue, I'm not a serious, money making ferreter so I rescued some, to hopefully compliment my dog. The ones I have now have/do bite my dogs now so how do I accustom them to a pup? I don't want him shy of them or retaliate. Thabks Quote Link to post
terryd 8,955
Shy and wary is a good thing in my opinion with in reason you obviously don't want the dog running a mile when it sees the ferret. But a healthy respect is good you can never really trust the ferret not too give the dog a nip if it feels like it. Quote Link to post

fitchet 788
If your ferrets are well handled and well accustomed to dogs there should be no problems. My ferret court is right oposite my dog kennels so the dogs and ferrets are well used to each other. Quote Link to post

tsteve9999 456
I was cleaning mine out today and gave them a little run in the garden. The dog came over for a look see and my hob snuck up and nipped him on the back leg, which resulted in 70 lb of lurcher going about 5 foot in the air squealing like an old woman. The pup will soon learn mate. Quote Link to post
