The Nite Site better results tutorial with Si Pittaway.

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

In this episode of VerminHuntersTV I do a layman terms tutorial showing you and giving you a few simple pointers and tips that will help you improve the range and picture quality of your Nite Site units.

These are the simple things I do to get the results I do when using the two units.

Remember the results also are depicted by the scope you use. Some scopes are far better at working with the Nite Site units than others.

The Hawke Sidewinder 30, 3 – 12 x 50 AO, Hawke Panorama EV 4 – 12 x 50 AO IR and MTC Mamba do work very well with the units. Other scopes will work well but I’ve not tested them myself so don’t want to comment.

Please enjoy.

Si.

nice vid Si and shows the capabilties of the ns50 and 200 well, i found the same as you with my ns200 i have brought a dsa and have now mounted the cam spot on for range and focus. dont get me wrong the adaptors supplied with the ns are more than adequate for the job  i found that if i shouldered the rifle i sometimes knocked the cam out of line so purchased the dsa to stop this. great honest and unbiased review mate. i may give the mounting method of screen you have used a go, looks to be a nice posistion further forward. Going back a couple of year ago when they had their stall at the midland game fair a few of us went up to have a look at them, a lad from the stall showed us them in the evening i walked 200 yards into the field and no-one in the group i was with was impressed with the result, have they changed anything on the unit since then??

Hi Torchey,

Dont know mate as we have only been using the units about 8 weeks - ish.

I should imagine so though as they have enough sales and happy customers so I'm informed at the minute and from what Ive just learned a big contract abroad coming very soon.

With what I have personally witnessed and used the units for they both have been very impressive. I don't ask more than the unit was designed for even though I know they see a bit further than Nite Site state. I just mainly stick to airgun ranges only.

I think the problem is set up i.e the scope brand and type being used and its magnification along with doing a few handy tips. Plus people expecting day light crystal clear quality out to 200 yards like you would get from a gen 3 unit costing +£3000.

At 200 yards you could shoot a rabbit if you needed to or a fox but the picture is not like as if you were stood 50 yards from it clarity and picture quality wise mate.

If you wanted really good recording picture quality for a YouTube clip or a home made DVD and you have a really good HD recorder (Lawmate PV1000) then I would say maybe 45 - 50 yards with the NS50 going off what I can achieve off the LCD screen and 120 - 130 yards with the NS200.

Hi Si i use the pulsar dsa i get fantastic results with the ns200 havent really tested distance properly but having said that i can get a quality pic way past airgun ranges. the reason i opted for the ns200 over ns50 was for scanning fields as well mate. i can clearly see a fence on one of my permissions which is 140yards away using the range finder. i use a MTC Mamba scope. cant complain well impressed mate. just need to sort a dvr for some footage. i found that a stable yard i shoot was extremely lamp shy but with the ns i have been able to thin the numbers down considerably.

i just filled the gap between the cam a dsa with black pipe to stop light pollution on the cam mate and for £30 you cant grumble comes with shims etc for most scopes and can adjust the length the cam is from occluar lense. i get some piccies up later of the setup.

Quality mate thanks a lot .

Its nice to see other people getting great results too mate. It helps verify what I have been saying ;) about the unit.

another tip to add.. get a lens pen to clean the lens and the sencor, theres shit in the air that builds a layer on both. (and for your scope lenses).

theres two sizes generally available for a couple quid odd, a big one and a small one, or some have both tips on a reversable section.

Another entertaining and informative Video Si, the only thing i have against them is the price, this could be reduced by at least 40% as i have been doing a lot of searching on the INTERNET re home made NV setups and a good setup can be had for a fraction of the price and equally as good in my opinion, its just a matter of sourcing the equipment at the right price which can be found: Dave

Agreed Dave 100%.

If you have the know how and bits and bobs a good unit can be made for a cheaper price.

Got to remember though that Nite Site is a business and they want to also make a living from their sales so they cant sell them at the same price it would cost them to make.

We had a good go of them at the gamefair last year as we were sat next to them all day in the tunnel, one of the lads from our airgun club went home and whent about making one, and now makes a unit better than the ns200 and for less money than the ns50 ;) but not to hijack the thread :D great vid Si
