Pure whippets your opinion please.

Thanks to every one who replied to my thread it made great reading with a few very impressive photos its all convinced me I have just bought my self a whippet of very good well known lines thanks for all your help. Cheers, Branch

A good whippet will run its balls off all day or night for you and still want more If they`re from the right blood they aren`t shivering things either.My bitch will work all day or night winter spring summer autumn without any bother I`d agree that some show bred dogs would struggle, but if they`re bred the right way you can`t beat a whippet as a rabbit dog and for the occasional hare and fox

23 inch whippet????thats one big whippet,but have to disagree they havnt the stamina of a lurcher are anygood for fox but a rabbit dog there bred for them :victory: mark

well to sum up there good dogs for hunted up rabbits and hares ive had them

for twenty odd years running them a long side lurchers and if they were no good

they would have went the way of the dodo great fun big hearts :)

some thing that doesn't just catch small fry and can stand up to bad weather :)

 

Should a whippet be run on hare? a lot have trouble holding a full grown rabbit never mind a hare.

:victory::victory: whippets were bread for nothing bigger then rabbits,and i wouldnt like to see one on these big dog foxes we have around here,there not all rounders and why people would say they are beats me,mark

i think if hares are what you are after then

a wippet might be the wrong choice .

and would age fairly quickly.

still they are nice to watch run.

and have seen some small bitches get kicked of a hare.

still good crack with them.
