ferret15 0 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Share Posted June 15, 2007 i dont know but i have 2 grayhound crosses and 2 greyhounds and they all except 1 have bare patches on there thigh because they lie on the ground a lot the one with no bare patch is to posh to lie on the floor and allways sits in a chair or her dog bed i have had this checked with a vet because like yourself i was worried and was told it was through friction from lieing on the carpet dose your dog sleep more on that side ? if its not itching then i doubt its mange but im not a vet anyone else got any ideas? luke 2 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Share Posted June 15, 2007 IS THE SKIN AROUND THE BALD PATCHREALY RED AND SCABBY AND IS THE DOG ALWAYS BITING AT IT THESE ARE THE SIGNS OF MANGE IF IT IS I WILL GIVE YOU A TIP IF YOU GO TO THE VET TELL HIM ITS BEEN NEAR FOXES AND TELL HIM ITS PICKED UP MANGE THE REASON I SAY THIS IS BECAUSE MY MATES SISTER TOOK A DOG TO THE VET AND HE TOOK OVER £300 FOR SKIN SCRAPES AND HE STILL HADNT CURED IT I TOOK IT TO MY VET AND IT COST ME £8 FOR A BOTTLE OF SPONGE ON SO BE CAREFULL MATE HOPE YOU GET IT SORTED Quote Link to post

I wouldnt of believed it when the Lab did it to herself, she literally ate the coat off her back leg and it was in strips like that pic, it was just a thought anyway. Dawn. tornado 0 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Share Posted June 15, 2007 if the skin is rough and red then it could be mange, doesnt look like it to me tho, might just be that the dog is lying on that side all the time. Is the dog itching at itself? Could be a flea allergy, or any other type of allergy? Quote Link to post
